NYU Shanghai held a virtual Convocation on Sunday, May 31, 2020 for graduates of the inaugural classes of the university’s master’s programs in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Quantitative Finance, and Data Analytics & Business Computing.
During the event, NYU President Andrew Hamilton, NYU Shanghai Chancellor Yu Lizhong, Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman, Provost Joanna Waley-Cohen, NYU Steinhardt Interim Dean Pamela Morris, and NYU Stern Dean Raghu Sundaram delivered messages recognizing the pioneering accomplishments of the 62 graduates at NYU Shanghai’s first Graduate Convocation. Student speakers, Xu Siqi, MA ‘20, and Wu Kaiwen, MS ‘20, represented their respective programs, and each graduate's name was read by faculty representatives. This was followed by a ceremonial "hooding" of all graduates.
