Environmental Health and Safety

NYU Shanghai is dedicated to providing all university community members with a safe and healthy environment by prioritizing fire safety, lab safety, occupational health, and environmental protection.

The EHS team provides EHS support, training, consulting, and auditing services in teaching, research, and campus operations. The team also manages risks, promotes sustainability, and implements practices that minimize environmental impact. It ensures that all activities comply with regulations and support the long-term health of both the community and the planet.

NYU Shanghai Laboratory Safety Committee consists of Campus Safety, Laboratory operation, and the Office of Research. It aims to strengthen the safety management of university laboratories and ensure the safety and compliance of laboratory activities.

EHS provides the proactive direction and standard operation procedures (SOP) to ensure the compliance of chemical, biological agent, drugs, microorganism, and equipment, etc., throughout the lifecycle of the acquisition, storage, usage, inventory, and disposal.
