What are the unique aspects of Sections I and II?

Section I will feature instruction through lectures, case studies, and faculty-facilitated interaction in a large-class environment with a general lifelong learning audience in mind. Section II will feature deeper study, discussion among classmates, and faculty-led activities in a small-group seminar setting. 

What does the program fee include?

The program fee covers tuition, materials, your certificate of completion, campus access privileges, and access to the learning management system.

Is there a withdrawal and refund policy?

Students who withdraw before two weeks from the start of class will receive a 100% refund. Students who withdraw within two weeks from the start of class will receive a 50% refund. No refunds are permitted after the start of class. To request a refund, please email shanghai.opencourses@nyu.edu.

Are housing and dining provided?

Students are responsible for their own accommodations and meals during the program.

Do course participants receive NYU alumni status?

Completion of a course does not grant NYU alumni status. However, participants will be considered alumni of the Open Courses program and have access to unique opportunities through this community.

Do course participants receive NYU academic credit?

Open Courses are not eligible for credit toward a NYU degree, but participants receive a NYU Shanghai Certificate of Completion upon finishing.

Are participants required to complete assignments outside of class?

There is no required homework. However, Open Courses will provide supplementary reference materials and readings which students are welcomed to review to deepen their learning.
