NYU Shanghai Creativity + Innovation Fellowship

The NYU Shanghai Creativity + Innovation Fellowship empowers students to critically and creatively engage with China’s dynamic innovation landscape. This selective fellowship brings together a global cohort of students united by their passion for exploring the intersections of design, business, and culture while studying in Shanghai, one of the world’s most dynamic cities.

Program Highlights

  • Behind-the-Scenes Experiences: Fellows will take part in site visits across Shanghai and beyond, gaining behind-the-scenes access to innovators, entrepreneurs, and creatives in China who are shaping the future of their industries and society.  

  • Opening Retreat Trip: The fellowship kicks off with an all-expenses-paid retreat at one of China’s most breathtaking locations to help Fellows intentionally reflect and design their pathways.

  • Innovation Trip Immersion: Midway through the semester, Fellows will embark on a curated trip to a dynamic Chinese city to explore how innovation, infrastructure, and creativity are transforming society from the ground up.

  • Stipend for Project Support: Study away fellows will be awarded 6,000 RMB to carry out their own project exploring creativity and innovation in China during the semester. 

  • Creative Showcase: The fellowship culminates with a final event that helps Fellows to synthesize their experiences and learning with a broader network and community.
