Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I took the course last summer. Can I take it again?
As long as you received a passing grade, the course is eligible for being repeated in future summers.

Can a student take the practicum course as well as other summer term courses?

No, the practicum course is designed to be accompanied by a full-time internship or research opportunity, thus students cannot simultaneously pursue academic credits during the summer term.

I’m a U.S. citizen and my internship requires or offers for me to be enrolled in a course for credit. Can I take this course?
No, the course is designed and intended to meet U.S. student visa regulations for non-US citizens to be enrolled in a course while doing research or an internship in the US.  It is not designed or intended to provide academic credit for doing research or an internship. I am still in the interview process and/or I received an internship/research offer after the practicum course deadline. Is it possible to apply after the application deadline?
Students should contact Malina Webb at mjw434@nyu.edu if they receive an offer after the deadline to inquire if it is still possible to apply.

Can I change my internship/research experience after I’ve been approved for the course?
