Housing

Study away students will live in the newly built Green Center Residence Hall in Jinqiao area of the Pudong District. The Jinqiao area provides students with the opportunity to become involved in an up and coming residential neighborhood while still having a connection to the Luijiazui financial district, where the NYU Shanghai campus is located as well as most major companies and internships. Students are just steps away from the Jinqiao international commercial plaza and will have a rich environment to explore some of the best western and Chinese dining options in Shanghai. A complimentary shuttle will run between the academic center and the residence hall giving students easy access to classes.

The residence hall is being built specifically for NYU Shanghai needs and will create an ideal environment for the NYU Shanghai residential community. Students will be able to concentrate on their studies comfortably and will benefit from a diverse community that will challenge them to become true global citizens. Health and Wellness

Studying away at NYU Shanghai offers you a unique opportunity to continue your studies and experience Chinese culture in one of the most modern, mega cities in the world. Shanghai has a unique history, which represents both its ancient past and modern future. The Health and Wellness team are dedicated to supporting this period of personal and social development by offering workshops introducing students to basic elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine and ancient art of Tai Chi as part of the journey. Our team are also actively involved in community based health promotion and education campaigns targeting the contemporary issues impacting students and Individual assistance with medical referrals and wellness counseling. Internship and Volunteer Opportunities

Students who wish to study away in Shanghai will have access to a wide variety of internship and volunteer opportunities. Before their arrival, students will have access to NYU Shanghai CareerNet and over 80 local internship opportunities posted each term. The NYU Shanghai mobility team (shanghai.student-mobility@nyu.edu) will assist you with the necessary paperwork to obtain a proper work visa and the Career Development Center will provide you with additional information about the opportunities available to you. Our Study Away students have obtained internships in corporations from different industries, such as BTC China, ACCESS health international, Amcham Shanghai, Oriental DreamWorks, AEG Management, naked Retreats, The Good Agency Asia and China Solutions. Besides internships, Study Away students can network and gain career related skills through attending career-related workshops, speaker sessions and company visits. You will also have the opportunity to apply for the NYU Shanghai Alumni Mentor Program which aims to connect students with NYU alumni across a variety of professional sectors in order to facilitate a deeper understanding of career opportunities and trends in Asia.

Getting Involved

NYU Shanghai’s student clubs and organizations reflect a vast diversity of interests and play an enormous role in developing student leaders and creating community. Whether your interest is academic, cultural, recreational, social, literary, performing arts, debate, LGBTQ, political, public policy, or community service, NYU Shanghai provides opportunities for students to meet and engage with like-minded students and explore similar interests.

Study away students are encouraged to participate in any of the student clubs and organizations for pursuing personal and professional passions, polishing transferable skills, and promoting learning, diversity, and community.
