Health Promotion and Programs

The Student Health Center offers a variety of wellness programs and educational resources to support the health and wellbeing of our entire student community.

Self-Serve Wellness Resources

Wellness supplies and educational materials are available for students outside of the Student Health Center office, Room W405. This includes hand sanitizer, bandages, menstrual supplies, and male condoms.

21-Day Wellness Initiatives

The 21-Day Wellness Initiative empowers students to take meaningful steps toward better health and well-being. Through personalized one-on-one coaching, students receive guidance, support, and accountability as they work toward goals such as quitting smoking or vaping, practicing mindfulness, improving sleep, increasing physical activity, or building other healthy habits. Small daily actions can lead to lasting positive change. The program is confidential, free of charge, and open to all NYU Shanghai students.

Weekly Wellness Programs

Each week during the academic term, the Student Health Center offers in-person or mixed-mode wellness programs, open to all students. This includes:

  • Lunch & Learn Workshops
Join medical and mental health professionals for interactive discussions on topics that support student well-being. Sessions cover a variety of health and wellness topics, including resilience, nutrition, sleep, sexual health, substance use, injury prevention, stress management, and more.
  • Handpan Experience
Take a pause from the demands of student life and explore the calming art of handpan playing. This four-week program introduces students to the basics of this melodic percussion instrument, offering a welcoming space to cultivate mindfulness, creativity, and relaxation through music.
  • Guided Meditation
In the midst of a busy semester, taking a few moments to pause can make a meaningful difference. These weekly sessions invite students to explore mindfulness through guided meditation and breathing practices, creating space to cultivate a greater sense of calm and balance.
  • Sound Healing
Experience deep relaxation through the soothing sounds of singing bowls and other therapeutic instruments inspired by nature. The gentle sounds and vibrations help foster a sense of ease, relaxation, and presence.
  • Peer-led Workshops
Learn alongside fellow students in engaging workshops led by trained Health Ambassadors. These interactive sessions create a supportive space to explore topics related to student well-being while building practical skills for everyday life, including managing procrastination, improving sleep, coping with stress and anxiety, navigating sexual health, fostering creativity, and more.
