Neighborhood Information

The Jingyao Residence Halls are located in the Houtan area in Pudong District. The Residence Halls are a short 10-minute shuttle bus ride away from the New Bund Campus. Shuttle buses, scheduled around the academic schedule will be available during the school year. In addition to the shuttle buses, public transportation is readily available, with metro stations and bus stops connecting students to the greater Shanghai municipal area.

Students living in Jingyao Residence Halls have convenient access to affordable restaurant options in the nearby business malls. The Floor B1 in Shanghai SK Building and International Metropolis Plaza (located about 2 blocks away) both have food courts, offering a wide range of restaurants. Houtan metro station is just 5 stops away (approx. 12 minutes) from Jing’an Temple metro station, which is considered to be one of the major hubs of Shanghai Metro network.

Housing Information

The NYU Shanghai Residence Halls are located in Towers 2, 3 and 5 at Jingyao Apartments. There are five housing options available, including single, double and triple occupancy rooms. All housing units are equipped with the following amenities:

  1. Basic furniture: desk, chair, bed, closet
  2. Private bathroom
  3. Private kitchen* (cooktop, fridge, kettle, and water dispenser included)
  4. Air Conditioner
  5. Washing Machine

Building facilities also include 24/7 security and facility management staff on site. Towers 2 and 3 generally house first-year and sophomore students, while Tower 5 houses mostly upperclass students.

*Students need to purchase their own kitchen supplies and toiletries

Resource Center (RC)

Location: Tower 5 Lobby (inside Winter Common Room)

Hours of operation: 9 am-9 pm
*Summer/Winter Break operation hours: 9 am-6 pm

Resource Center

The RC acts as the hub of the NYU Shanghai residential community at Jingyao residence halls, helping students navigate university resources and services and keeping residents connected and informed. Students are welcome to visit the RC with questions about NYU Shanghai, the residence hall, or any general inquiries they may have while staying with us.

Services provided by the RC includes but are not limited to on-campus events, cleaning supply rental and bedding/linen purchases. For more information about the Resource Center, please email shanghai.rc@nyu.edu.

Package Services: The Resource Center does not provide package services. To receive packages at Jingyao Residence Halls, please use smart lockers located in front of Tower 3 and/or community mailroom (菜鸟) located between Tower 2 and Tower 3.

Common Room

Common Room

On-campus residents will have access to the four common rooms (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter) located in the lobby of Tower 5. In addition to the many common spaces in the NYU Shanghai campus building, each of the common rooms in Jingyao residence halls provides space and resources suitable for study, meeting and leisure purposes.

Spring: iMac lab, printer, communal microwaves, multi-purpose space

Summer: Multi-purpose space

Autumn: Multi-purpose space

Winter: Resource Center, printer, multi-purpose space, bathroom
