How to Access the Academic Building and Go Local Spaces

To access the NYU Shanghai Academic Building or WeWork Shinmay/Fuhui temporary campuses, you will need to:

  • Attend an orientation before you enter any NYU Shanghai facilities. Access will be revoked if you do not complete the orientation.
  • Present your Green Health Code at the entrance.This health code can be accessed through Alipay (international and Chinese students and faculty) or WeChat (Chinese students and faculty only). See How To Get Your Shanghai Color Code for more information.
  • Temperatures are monitored upon entry to any building. Individuals with a temperature higher than 37.3 degrees Celsius or 99.1 degrees Fahrenheit may not enter, and will be transferred to a medical facility for further assessment.
  • Wear a face mask

When on campus, community members must adhere to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct, and observe social distancing guidelines and signage on campus.

Campus access is limited to NYU Shanghai community members only, visitors are not permitted at this time.

Entering and Exiting the Academic Building

Due to COVID-19, please be aware that the South Entrance facing Century Avenue is now reserved for exiting the campus. To enter, please walk around the building and use the North Entrance along Songlin Road.

Academic Building Hours of Operations

The Academic Building will be open Monday to Saturday from 7:45 am to 8:30 pm. After hours access is designated as: Monday to Saturday from 8:30 pm to 10:45 pm and Sundays from 7:45 am to 5 pm. During after hours, access to the building will be limited to the 2nd Floor Cafe, 4th Floor Library Commons, and some supervised labs and studios. When necessary, hours may be extended and modified for academic purposes such as exams. Extensions will be approved by the University Committee on COVID-19 management.

Go Local Spaces Hours of Operations

WeWork Shinmay

999 South Pudong Road
Monday through Saturday 7:45am to 8:30pm and any legislative make up day.
Access will not be permitted outside of these hours except for scheduled classes.

WeWork Fuhui

16 Qi Xia Road
Monday through Friday 7:45am to 8:30pm and any legislative make up day.
Access will not be permitted outside of these hours except for scheduled classes. 

Research Facilities

Please refer to campus-specific access protocols for guidance on accessing research facilities at the Academic Building or the ECNU Zhongbei campus. ECNU Zhongbei access guidelines are here.

When conducting research involving human subjects, researchers should keep in mind changing risk profiles associated with the pandemic at the location of your study. After assessing risk, researchers should submit amendments on additional steps for mitigating pandemic related risk. Updates are here.

Library

Library Services will be available from 8 am to 8 pm (Mon-Thurs), 8 am to 6 pm (Fri), and 1 pm to 6 pm (Sat/Sun). Library Collections and the Academic Commons will keep the same hours as the Academic Building (Mon-Sat, 7:45 am to 8:30 pm). Study spaces in the Library are limited to one student per desk. The vast majority of NYU Libraries materials are available online, and can be accessed from anywhere in the world via the NYU Shanghai Library website. Dining

Dining services will be offered in the B1 Cafeteria and 2F Cafe with limited seating. Diners will be spaced and seated one to a table. Take-away is also available.

    • Lunch 11:00am – 2:00pm
    • Dinner 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Halal 4:00pm – 7:30pm
    • Saturday and Sunday:
    • Lunch Halal 11:00am – 2:00pm
    • Dinner Halal 4:00pm – 6:00pm
  • 2F Café
    • Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 7:00pm
    • Saturday and Sunday: 9:00 - 5:00pm

*Legislative Days follow normal operating hours.

Athletics / Recreation Spaces

Athletics and Fitness spaces and programs are open with reduced capacity and other safety measures in place. Hours are 8 am - 10 pm (Mon-Thurs), 8 am - 8 pm (Fri), noon - 6 pm (Sat & Sun). The Athletics team has also produced over 60 videos to help the community stay fit.

Mailroom

Mail operations will continue as normal, but will only be accessible by the Public Safety entrance. As mail is received, mailroom staff will notify recipients that they have mail. Mail should be collected from the mailroom between 9 AM and 5 PM.

Campus Store

The Campus Store will be open from 9 AM - 6 PM.

Events

In-person events will be limited to events that can provide a full management and critical response plan and approval from the COVID-19 Management Committee. An Events Guide will be issued to student organizations, departments, and will require approval. When possible, please utilize digital resources to put together virtual events in lieu of in-person events.
