Academic Technology Portal is a guide for faculty to any technology needs, where necessary technology resources are consolidated into four main categories. Begin your search by entering into the subpages for computing and server, advanced printing, academic application and platform, or classroom/media support and infrastructural technology support. Computing and server is where you will find all computing related resources and book printing services under advanced printing. Academic technology support including all NYU licensed academic software and NYU academic platforms. Classroom support and infrastructural teaching support are also included in academic portal.

Research and Instructional Technology Services (RITS) provides comprehensive research and technology support for faculty and students in teaching, learning and scholarship activities. Instructional technologists, specialists and librarians support Technology Enhanced Education (TEE) alongside specialist reference librarians providing reference, research consultations, and workshops for faculty and students. Staff specializations include instructional technology and design, online and blended learning development, web publishing and digital mapping (GIS) initiatives, research tools and services. RITS offers Digital Learning Environment support, as well as Digital Studio services, digital media and instructional video production, project management as well as consultation services.

NYU Shanghai Information Technology Services utilizes up-to-date equipment and processes to provide the best user experience possible for community members. IT operates infrastructure, providing services such as High Performance Computing and VPN, as well as client-facing assistance, helping the community with technical support through our Service Desk. Ease of access is central to IT, with IT-operated computers and printers positioned at various locations around the academic building and the dorms. With our knowledge-equipped teams, accessing technology in higher education is easy with classroom support for anything from intensive research infrastructure to the operation of classroom technology. 1. Q:Why I cannot access my gmail / Facebook / Twitter (or other websites)?
A: According to Chinese law and local regulations, you need connect to NYU Shanghai VPN to access services like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube in China. Visit  http://shanghai.nyu.edu/it/vpn to download the NYU VPN client and configure it for use in Shanghai.

 

2. Q: How can I connect my laptop/cellphone/tablet to university wireless? 
A: You can connect your device including Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10, Mac, iPhone, Android, Ubuntu devices to “nyu” network with our Knowledge Base. 

 

3. Q: How can I print in Shanghai? 
A: There are 2 different printing system in shanghai campus. NYU Print Service is a global NYU service designed to allow students to print documents in black and white. For colorful printing, the NYU community (including faculty, staff and students) can use the NYUSH Pudong Campus Printers. This service is specific to NYU Shanghai, and makes printing quick and simple. The service is available in Mac, Windows and Linux.

 

4. Q: What equipment IT providing and how long can I loan? 
A: NYU Shanghai IT provide a various of equipments from cameras to projector, laptop to microphone and audio device to other accessories. Most of the loan services default loaning time is 5 hours. Special equipments (e.g. Camera/Video Camera) default loaning time is 3 days. Long term loaning (up to 2 weeks) only available for staff and faculty. 5. Q: How can I connect my laptop in classroom screen? How to switch the signal from classroom desktop to my laptop?
A: NYU Shanghai have 3 types of classrooms divided by the capacity of classroom, Small classrooms can hold 20 people, Medium classrooms can hold 45 people, Large classrooms can hold 60 people. Use Small Classrooms Technical Guide and Medium/Large Technical Guide to connect laptops and switch signal.
