NYU Shanghai to Present Honor to Xu Xiaoping

NYU Shanghai is delighted to announce that Mr Xu Xiaoping, a pioneering angel investor in China, will receive this year’s Chancellor's Medal of Honor, and deliver the commencement address at the graduation ceremony, on May 23 at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Center.

The NYU Shanghai Medal of Honor is bestowed to an individual who has, through the many dimensions of their life, exemplified the values cherished by our university. Mr Xu will participate in the commencement  and address the Class of 2018 along with the Chancellors of NYU Shanghai, the President of New York University, and this year’s recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Service Award.

“Mr Xu has expressed the values that animate our university throughout his inspired career. With a truly global perspective, he has united his interests in the arts, the sciences, and business for the benefit of society,” Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman said.

Mr Xu Xiaoping is the Founder and Managing Partner of ZhenFund, a leading early-stage fund which has been ranked number one for four consecutive years by Zero2IPO Group’s “Early-stage Firms of the Year.” Forbes magazine selected Mr Xu into The Midas List, the world's top 100 investors of the year for three consecutive years since 2016.

Mr Xu is known as one of China’s pioneering angel investors, having earned many distinctions including “2010 Most Respected Angel Investor” and “2013 Best Angel Investor” from The Founder Magazine, “2014 Best Angel Investor” from CV Source, and “2014 Chinese Business Leaders Award” from Phoenix TV. Prior to founding ZhenFund, Mr Xu was a Co-Founder of New Oriental Education & Technology Group, the largest provider of private education in China.

Mr Xu received his bachelor’s degree from China Central Conservatory of Music and obtained a master's degree from University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He is currently the president of China Angel Club, China’s top angel investor organization, and president of the China Angel Committee by CSRC (China Securities Regulatory Committee).
