NYU Shanghai Chancellor Yu Lizhong, COO Liu Hongxia, and approximately thirty faculty members spent the afternoon of March 1 in the Jingan district, visiting Jingan Sculpture Park. They enjoyed the plum and peach blossoms already in bloom during the city’s early spring season. Despite the rain, the faculty members were excited and interested in the park’s unique sculptures, which were commissioned by various artists.
Afterwards, the faculty members had an opportunity to visit a private tea house in the park. They sipped and sampled Chinese tea, took in a performance of classical Chinese musical instruments, and were instructed in the art of writing Chinese calligraphy under the guidance of a professional teacher. These activities helped to better acquaint NYU Shanghai faculty with the city of Shanghai and Chinese culture.
