NYU Shanghai's Hua Jiang Awarded Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE)

NYU Shanghai Director of University Communications Hua Jiang has recently been named Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in honor of her services to international communications as former United Nations Director of News and Media in New York.

Jiang’s 20 years of service at the UN included working as Deputy Spokesperson for Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Chief of the Press Service at the UN Headquarters, and Director of Communications/Chief Spokesperson of UN peacekeeping and political missions in locations such as Kosovo, Austria, Sudan, South Sudan, Myanmar, and Libya.

Her last six years at the UN were spent working in the Division of Global Communications as Director of News and Media, where she managed a team of over 200 staff responsible for the whole spectrum of public information and communications across a range of platforms.

In July 2022, Jiang joined NYU Shanghai as the Director of University Communications, where she oversees all public affairs, digital communications, and marketing activities.
