November 10, 2015 - On Tuesday, the Career Development Center hosted a panel discussion featuring two leading women executives, Ms Joan Ren, Managing Partner at Ample Harvest Finance, and Ms Ren Li, Co-CEO of Orient Securities Asset Management Company Ltd. Invited by Elizabeth Chen (NYU Shanghai's Senior Executive in Residence), the two successful executives shared their stories of risk taking, changing career paths several times, traveling around the globe for work and graduate school, and eventually their respective rises through the ranks to thrive in their positions today. Ms Ren described a typical day in the life of a venture capitalist. She talked about managing high stakes investments with Chinese start-ups. Ms Li described the asset management business and offered some personal insight into the Asian financial world, including the recent stock market impact on China. Both speakers fielded a range of questions from students, from how their experiences as women leaders influenced their career track to how students can begin their own exploration of the finance world as young undergraduates.
