Professor of Art Jian-Jun Zhang was awarded a 2014 New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Artists' Fellowship in the "Crafts/Sculpture" discipline.
Zhang's sculptures combine the traditional cultural forms of Chinese antique vases or scholar's rocks, re-sculpting the original and casting in the contemporary industrial material of silicone rubber. This reflects cultural movements—old and new, east and west—and reflects the reality of our global society, as well as Zhang’s own experiences residing in both Shanghai and New York.
