On Thursday, June 24, 2015, Vice Chancellor Jeff Lehman led a panel of witnesses testifying about the future of American universities in China, before a subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC.
Lehman, who described NYU Shanghai as a unique institution, talked about the importance of its early successes in teaching and research. The hearing was lead by Representative Christopher Smith (R-NJ) who chairs the subcommittee on Africa, global health, global human rights and international organizations. Witnesses included Robert Daly, Director of the Kissinger Institute on China and Mirta Martin, President of Fort Hays State University.
