Studying Abroad With NYU

All NYU Shanghai students study away from their home campuses for one or two semesters to further enhance their education. There are also opportunities for study abroad during January Term and Summer Sessions. In fact, NYU Shanghai students can be found year-round studying at NYU’s 13 global centers or at our campuses in New York City and Abu Dhabi.

Courses at other NYU global academic centers and campuses work seamlessly into the NYU Shanghai degree plan so no matter where a student may go within the global network, he or she would have the same access to resources as they would have in Shanghai.

Additional Opportunities to Travel and Go Abroad

January Term and Summer Sessions are short, intensive terms that take place between semesters. These sessions enable students to delve into subjects that interest them from an international perspective. For example, students may choose to study law in Buenos Aires, financial markets in New York City, or biodiversity in Accra.

Study Away at NYU Shanghai and Regional Study Trips

NYU Shanghai welcomes some 100 Study Away students every semester. With Shanghai as a home base, students can visit other regions of China. Through experiential learning programs and volunteer opportunities , students can apply to spend winter and spring breaks actively engaged in hands-on projects designed to let them deeply experience a new culture and community.
