Firas Alzain is a Language Lecturer of Arabic at NYU Shanghai, who holds an MA in Arabic Studies from Sorbonne-Nouvelle University and a BA in French Studies from Damascus University. His master's research was a linguistic analysis of Arabic folk tales.
His teaching experience started with the French Ministry of National education as an Arabic assistant. In 2013, he founded Calam, a center for Arabic studies in Paris. He created and published handbooks and videos on Arabic teaching methodologies for French learners. He also taught at a number of institutions in Paris-France, such as Sciences Po and Celsa-Sorbonne Université.
His goal is to work on individual and collective projects aiming at developing the teaching of the Arabic language, dialects and cultures.
