Submit Your Final Transcripts and Proof of Graduation

NYU Shanghai requires all admitted students to submit final transcripts and proof of high school graduation from all institutions attended. These documents must be received by NYU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions by July 15, 2026.  Failure to meet this deadline will result in the withdrawal of your enrollment. Submitting these materials is a required final step before enrolling and traveling to China on your student visa.

For full details, please review NYU’s Proof of Graduation Policy.

If your school operates on a different academic calendar and cannot meet the deadline, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at shanghai.admissions@nyu.edu to request an extension.

Submission Instructions:

  • Preferred: Have your final transcript submitted electronically directly to NYU.

  • By Mail (if necessary): If your school is unable to submit electronically, transcripts must be mailed to:

    New York University
    Office of Undergraduate Admissions
    400 Lafayette Street
    New York, NY 10003 USA

Notice: Please do not mail any documents to NYU Shanghai’s campus in China.

For Students from Non-U.S. High Schools:

Students graduating from schools outside the U.S. must submit their final transcripts and proof of graduation to Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) for authentication. Once verified, ECE will share the results with NYU Shanghai. You can find instructions for sending these final documents to ECE here.

If your documents are released after the deadline, submit them to ECE as soon as possible. While your fall enrollment will not be affected, missing documents may delay your ability to register for future semesters.

Please ensure:

  • Your name on all documents matches your Common Application exactly.
  • Your date of birth is included on all materials sent to ECE.

Note: Official test scores (e.g., A-levels from Cambridge International Examinations and the IB) submitted through official electronic sources do not need to be sent to ECE. If you received an IB diploma, please request that a copy of your official transcript be sent from the IBO directly to NYU

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at shanghai.admissions@nyu.edu.

We know you're eager to pack your bags and move to China!

Make sure to complete the steps above and continue to engage with your future classmates in our NYU Shanghai Class of 2030 Facebook group

Starting in mid-May, the Center for New Student Programs will reach out to enrolled students to initiate the visa process (please ensure you have a legal and valid passport to complete all requirements). Over the summer, they will also share information about class registration, the housing preferences application, the Chinese placement exam, bill payments, immunization forms, and more. Students will receive detailed instructions for the required move-in on Sunday, August 23, 2026, as well as guidance for the mandatory orientation program from Monday, August 25 through Saturday, August 30.

Update Chosen/Preferred Name and Pronouns

You can update your chosen/preferred name and pronouns in Albert (NYU's student information system) at any time. Access instructions for updating your chosen/preferred name and instructions for updating your pronouns at the provided links.

Passport, Visa, and Residence Permit Requirements

Students living outside of China will receive guidance from the NYU Shanghai Student Mobility team on the student visa application process beginning in May. You will be asked to complete a mandatory visa survey by June 1, and students must secure their student visa by July 1. Failure to complete the survey, obtain a visa by July 1, or secure a residence permit upon arrival (if required) will make you ineligible to study at NYU Shanghai.

Students should also check now to ensure they have a passport valid at least until August 2027. If not, they should apply for a new passport or begin the renewal process as soon as possible, as a valid passport is required for the visa process.

If you have any questions about your visa or residence permit status, please contact the Student Mobility office directly at shanghai.student-mobility@nyu.edu.
