If you have questions about your financial aid offer, you should contact the NYU Shanghai Office of Financial Aid directly at +1 212-998-2838 or by email at shanghai.financial.support@nyu.edu (Office Hours: Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Eastern Standard Time).
Please note that the information below varies slightly for U.S. citizens (or permanent residents) and non-U.S. citizens.
The 2025-2026 estimated cost of attendance and financial aid offer (if you applied for financial aid by all stated deadlines) is available for students in the NYU Albert Student Center. Click on the "Finances" tab under the appropriate academic year.
If you are a U.S. citizen/permanent resident and have been offered U.S. federal loans, you (the student) will need to accept/decline a portion or all of the federal loans. You may do so in NYU Albert Student Center under the Accept/Decline Awards link. For students who have been awarded U.S. federal financial aid - it is important that you have a thorough understanding of your awards. Helpful information relating to your aid can be found online at Federal Direct Loans.
If you expect to receive financial support from a source outside of your family, please notify the Office of Financial Aid at shanghai.financial.support@nyu.edu. Such support may be in the form of government grants, scholarships from community organizations, or other sources. Any such financial support from an external source will be considered in determining the amount of financial aid you ultimately receive from NYU Shanghai.
NYU Shanghai scholarship/grant aid will be renewed annually at the same amount offered as long as you maintain full-time enrollment status (12 credits or more per semester). For students that intend on utilizing U.S. federal aid, you will need to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards and file your FAFSA application annually in order to renew your federal financial aid. More detailed information about renewability of aid and progress standards as a returning student can be found on our website under Returning Students.
All financial aid offered is displayed in US Dollar. For non-U.S. citizens, once you are issued a semester bill through the NYU Office of the Bursar (eSuite portal), your financial aid offer will be converted into Chinese Yuan (CNY).
