 * Students need to take CCEX-SHU 1 and CCEX-SHU 3 together as they are co-requisites.

* Students who are interested in exploring Computer Systems Engineering or Electrical and Systems Engineering are encouraged to take General Physics I or Foundations of Physics I Honors and/or Introduction to Programming or Introduction to Computer Science. Note that enrollment in CSCI-SHU 101 Introduction to Computer Science is only allowed for students who have passed the Computer Science Placement Exam. If you are interested in taking Introduction to Computer Science, please select CSCI-SHU 11 Introduction to Computer Programming and indicate that you would like to take the placement exam in the summer advising module assignment submission.

* PHYS-SHU 91 Foundations of Physics I Honors OR PHYS-SHU 11 General Physics I should be taken together with PHYS-SHU 71 FoS Physics Laboratory (2 credits). Students must take the physics lecture (either Foundations of Physics I Honors OR General Physics I) AND the lab in order to fulfill the core curriculum “Experimental Discovery in the Natural World” requirement.

* CHEM-SHU 125 Foundations of Chemistry I needs to be taken together with CHEM-SHU 127 Chemistry Lab in order to fulfill the core curriculum “Experimental Discovery in the Natural World” requirement.

**** Students who are interested in pursuing Economics are recommended to take ECON-SHU 1 Principles of Macroeconomics. Students interested in Business major should NOT take ECON-SHU 1 Principles of Macroeconomics as it is NOT intended for Business major students. Students who are interested in pursuing a Business major should take the required Economics of Global Business course in their sophomore year instead.

***** The Deans' Service Scholars (DSS) service learning courses help you to engage with a local community population in Shanghai, apply theoretical concepts into practice, and think critically about the ethics and experiences in service and interactions with others. Language and Power is taught synchronously online. Remade in China is offered in person. Students need to apply to be accepted into the courses. Interested students may review more information on this document and apply through an individual course webpage that is linked to on the Office for Community Engaged Learning Website.

0-2 Credit Art and Music Course

Based on interest and availability, some students may elect to take 0-2 or music courses in addition to the 16-credit (for Science students - 18 credit) coursework. Be cautioned that this additional coursework is elective and can be demanding for time management. You can also see the typical schedules in their list and calendar views in Albert. The maximum can enroll in are 18 credits per semester. Please ask an advisor if you have questions.
