5 Year Service Award

Thank You for Your Service and Contribution to NYU Shanghai!

At NYU Shanghai, the 5 Years Service Award is an important university-wide annual program. It honors full-time employees, including faculty and staff, who have been with the school for five years, and recognizes their dedicated service and contributions to the university.

In January 2019, NYU Shanghai held the very first Award Ceremony and presented trophies and certificates to its first batch of awardees. University leadership and community members were invited to attend the ceremony and celebrate this important moment.

Another 20 faculty members and 26 staff members reached their 5-year service milestone at the end of 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year's Award Ceremony could not take place as scheduled. Instead, the university is marking the occasion with a special thank you video.

This video features messages of congratulations and thanks from Chancellor Tong Shijun, Vice Chancellor Jeff Lehman, and Provost Joanna Waley-Cohen, and recognizes extraordinary contributions by faculty and staff during the pandemic. As Vice Chancellor Lehman says, “five years of service to NYU Shanghai marks five years of effort, five years of experience, five years of devotion to our goals. On behalf of NYU Shanghai, I say - congratulations on your achievements and thank you for your contributions to our university.”

Awardees also express their thoughts and feelings in the video by talking about their experiences of working at NYU Shanghai over the past years and sharing their hopes and wishes for the university.

"NYU Shanghai values each and every one of its employees. We believe the University’s ongoing development is fueled by the wisdom, efforts, and commitment of our community," said Guo Wei, Director of Human Resources. "We look forward to seeing more employees continue to develop their careers with us here at NYU Shanghai!"
