Vice Chancellor Lehman spoke about the importance of what NYU Shanghai stands for. “Maybe the most significant transformation over the past year that we experienced was the emergence of our university as the symbol of optimism and hope for ongoing, constructive engagement between China and the United States,” he said. “We had our activities, mission, and architecture being celebrated. As a result, we now find ourselves as the object of curiosity. That means we need a welcome site. We need a point of contact, a point of entry, a point of tomorrow.”
