Global Awards & Fellowships

The Samvid Scholars program supports up to $50,000 per year for two years of graduate study. In addition to funding for their graduate program, each Scholar will receive two years of leadership development programming to support them to continue to fulfill their extraordinary potential.

Eligibility: An eligible candidate for 2024 selection will: - Pursue a full-time graduate program of 2 years or longer at a university in the United States, in one of the following eligible programs: MD, MBA, JD, MPP/MPA, MPH, MS/MA in the social science or STEM. See the FAQ on the website to check if your MA/MS program is eligible.

• Be a first-year graduate student for the 2024-2025 academic year
• Have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5 - Be a U.S. citizen or DACA recipient
• All competitive candidates will demonstrate commitment to driving change for society through both their past experiences and achievements and their vision for their career.

Rong Chang Scholar “荣昶学者” is a program in collaboration with Fudan University which is open to all college students of Chinese nationality. It features an annual award for students of high achievements with a global vision. They also offer opportunities for internships with international organizations. The RCS nominations are made by the NYUSH Career Development Center. Interested students can consult the Chinese webpage here to stay up to date on the next application round.

The Rhodes Scholarship is the world's oldest, most famous scholarship, and is now open to all citizenships. Funding degrees in all research subjects, from Biochemistry to Artificial Intelligence, English Literature to Public Policy, it aims to nurture public-spirited leaders for the world's future. Rhodes Scholars study at the world-class University of Oxford, ranked first internationally in the Times Higher Education rankings in 2017. Scholars may pursue any full-time postgraduate degree (subject to limited restrictions) offered by the University of Oxford, with funding for 2-4 years. Rhodes Scholars mix with other global scholars in the UK and hold comprehensive retreats, workshops, conferences, as well as many discussion and social events at Rhodes House, Oxford.

Eligibility: Generally, you must have reached your 18th birthday and not have passed your 24th birthday on 1 October in the year of application - check your specific country criteria. Rhodes Scholars must have completed a Bachelor’s degree before coming up to Oxford, to a sufficiently high standard to meet both the Rhodes and the Oxford criteria.

Deadline: Check your country of eligibility. Most deadlines (including China) fall in early October, but a few are as early as July. If you are applying under the "Global" category (i.e. your country does not have its own competition), nominations must be received by 30 June and applications by 31 August.

International relations, public policy, economics, law, engineering, the sciences, pre-medicine, journalism, social sciences, foreign languages and literatures, the arts, and the humanities. Details: Princeton in Latin America (PiLA) partners with NGOs and multilateral organizations and places highly qualified recent college graduates in year-long service fellowships with nonprofit, public service, humanitarian, and government organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean. Placements emphasize the power of firsthand work experience to shape young people's attitudes and mobilize them to effect positive social change. PiLA enhances the mission of its partners by building their capacity to constructively impact the communities they serve, addressing the social, economic, and political barriers to egalitarian community development. Since 2003, PiLA has placed over 400 fellows with partners in 20 countries throughout the region.

Eligibility: Application for Princeton in Latin America fellowships is open to graduates of accredited U.S. and Canadian universities. International students who have graduated within the last 4 years from a college or university accredited in the U.S. or Canada may apply but should note that visa eligibility for destination countries may be a determining factor in placement.

Founded in 1898, Princeton in Asia (PiA) has been building bridges between the U.S. and Asia for over a century. PiA aims to foster mutual appreciation and cultural understanding by connecting service-minded graduates and partner organizations in Asia through immersive work experiences that transform perspectives, cultivate long-lasting relationships and benefit local and global communities. Princeton in Asia Fellows teach in kindergartens, secondary schools, polytechnics and universities; they work with international and local nonprofits as well as some of Asia’s most innovative businesses and social enterprises.

Eligibility: PiA is open to applicants of any nationality who have earned a bachelor’s degree or will obtain a bachelor’s degree before their anticipated fellowship start date. Applicants must speak to how they will promote mutual appreciation and cross-cultural understanding between the United States and Asia. It is important to note that host country visa restrictions may limit the number of potential posts for citizens of certain nationalities. Moreover, applicants who are in the process of applying for permanent residency or citizenship in the U.S. are advised to consult a legal professional about the impact that a fellowship may have on their immigration status. English teaching positions require native English speaking ability.

Deadline: The application deadline for Princeton in Asia's 2024-2025 fellowships was 1 November 2023. Applications for the 2025-2026 fellowship cycle should open in mid-August 2024.

Princeton in Africa matches talented and passionate college graduates with organizations working across Africa for yearlong service placements. The program is open to graduating seniors and young alumni from any college or university accredited in the U.S. Fellows have helped improve education and public health, source fresh water and alternative energy, increase family incomes, and so much more.

Eligibility: All nationalities; Applicants should be young alumni or graduating seniors in order to join in this yearlong program

PPI offers Indonesian students a scholarship to study in Hong Kong universities.

Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship allows you to work as a Foreign Service Officer based on the needs of U.S. State Department. The fellowship program provides graduate students with financial support, mentoring and professional development to prepare them academically and professionally for a career with the U.S. Department of State. Like the Rangel Fellowship, the Pickering is looking to expand the diversity of US Foreign Service officers.

Eligibility:

• Be a U.S. citizen.
• Have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.
• Seek admission to a two-year, full-time, on-campus, master’s degree program at a U.S.-based graduate institution to begin in the fall of 2024 in an academic field relevant to the work of the Foreign Service (public policy, international affairs, public administration, business, economics, political science, management science, organizational development/leadership, sociology, or regional studies).

All disciplines except medical sciences and the learning of new languages Details: Organization of American States Scholarships are awarded for full-time studies at any university in an OAS Member State. OAS Scholarship Recipients should return and remain in the sponsoring country for a period of no less than twenty four months after completing the program of study.

Eligibility: A citizen or permanent resident of an English speaking Caribbean Member States or Suriname (see OAS Member States here); Have completed the first two years of the Undergraduate degree, or have an Associate’s degree; Have a GPA above the minimum standard required by the university

Scholars will participate in course and internship during the semester.The Meaning of Leadership is an experiential course that explores the nature of leadership in the 21st century. The NYU DC Global Leadership Scholars provides financial support up to $9,500 per semester.
