NYU Shanghai senior Musa Malik has been granted a Young Leaders award by the Pakistan Embassy in Warsaw in recognition for his contributions to Pakistani youth diplomacy.
As the official Youth Director for International Affairs from Pakistan National Youth Assembly, Malik journeyed to the Polish cities of Kraków and Warsaw this summer to lead discussions with youth groups on cultural relations between the two countries.
Malik described the dialogue, which took place against a backdrop of cultural events showcasing Pakistani traditions, music and artists, as “a humbling learning experience,” during which participants from both nations discovered similarities in political ideology, cultural norms and societal values.
“It blew my mind to see two apparently radically different countries having so much in common,” Malik said. “We even discussed some potential youth programs that could start panning out within NYU Shanghai.”
During the course of Pakistan’s Independence Week programs, Malik met with Pakistani Embassy officials in Warsaw who presented him with the Young Leaders plaque on behalf of His Excellency Dr. Khalid H. Memon at the Pakistan mission in Warsaw.
Malik, who was also Youth Ambassador to China during his sophomore year at NYU Shanghai has previously been recognized as an emerging global leader by NYU Leadership Initiatives. He is also the creator of social entrepreneurial project humans., cofounded with Keith Ross, Dean of Computer Science and Engineering at NYU Shanghai.
