The Interactive Media Arts VR/AR Fundamentals classes have built a VR catalogue of 100 titles ranging from mainstream to edgy VR experiences that include short film, interactive audio, simulated sports, art immersion experiences and more. The titles have been curated, reviewed, and rated by students - and IMA is now offering tours by appointment to the greater NYU Shanghai community.
"We have all 5 major VR platforms - Facebook/Oculus Rift, Google Daydream, Sony Playstation, Samsung Gear VR, and HTC Vive . We may be the only university in the world to have all platforms and 100 titles," says IMA Visiting Associate Arts Professor Michael Naimark.
Those who are curious to explore can browse the VR catalogue and select specific titles or request a guided tour based on keywords from their interests.
“This is less about being VR evangelists as it is about opening what we’ve found to a broader community,” adds Naimark. “We instill in our students a healthy balance of productive enthusiasm and positive criticality.”
