PhD Programs

In mid-June, 16 new PhD students arrived at NYU Shanghai to begin their studies in seven disciplines: Chemistry, Mathematics, Data Science, Sociology, Computer Science, Physics, and Public Administration. Currently, NYU Shanghai collaborates with NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science, the Tandon School of Engineering, and the Wagner School of Public Service to offer 11 joint PhD programs, with over 60 doctoral students currently enrolled and 13 alumni.

On July 20, new PhD students participated in the 2024 First-Year Doctoral Summer Camp, alongside their peers from other NYU schools, as well as senior students and alumni. Through a series of planned activities, the new doctoral students bonded and built interdisciplinary connections, explored NYU’s extensive global resources, and prepared to travel to New York where their academic journey would begin.
