2017 NYU Shanghai Second Forum on Chinese Language Pedagogy

NYU Shanghai’s Chinese Language Program (CLP) held its Second Forum on Chinese Language Pedagogy on May 21st, 2017, bringing together 74 scholars, professors and Chinese teachers from 32 universities and language institutions.

Opening the forum with a warm welcome,Qiyi Zhang, Director of the Chinese Language Program of NYU Shanghai briefly introduced of NYU Shanghai’s Chinese Language Program, followed by remarks by Maria Montoya, Dean of Arts and Sciences of NYU Shanghai.. Keynote speakers included Professor Zhongwei Wu, Dean of the International Cultural Exchange School of Fudan University, and Professor Xiuling Cao, Dean of International College of Chinese Studies of Shanghai Normal University. Presentations on the themes of Chinese Language Pedagogy, Teaching Materials, Teaching Practice, Development of Teachers, Curriculum Design, and Chinese Corpus were followed by an open dialogue where research accomplishments and invaluable teaching experiences were shared.

Many expressed being inspired by the forum’s presenters, looking forward to further future exchanges and discussions on Chinese Pedagogy with the fellows.
