Your Question Answered

  • Why do students choose courses outside of their major?

  • Many students don't know what their true interests are when they start their university journey. NYU Shanghai offers a liberal arts education that includes basic culture and sociology, natural sciences, humanities and mathematics. Rather than students immediately choosing a major in what they believe to be a popular or lucrative field, we encourage students to experience each subject as a way to discover new or existing interests. They then spend their junior and senior year developing skills in their chosen major.
