Human beings are able to integrate and hold information across time, as well as rapidly and transiently respond to changing stimuli. For instance, to carry a conversation, our brain gets the meaning of words on a very short timescale, it integrates words to understand a sentence on a longer timescale, and finally it must also combine sentences to make sense of paragraphs and whole texts on even longer timescales. Read more

November 7, 2015 - A group of 40 or so faculty and staff visited the Shanghai Jewish Refugee Museum, White Horse Cafe and the surrounding neighborhood of Duolun Street where they were warmly received by local leaders. In addition to learning about Shanghai’s history, especially during World War II, the group also visited Hong de Tang  (鸿德堂) Church, named after George Field Fitch-- the great-grandfather of NYU Shanghai’s Dean of Arts and Sciences, David Fitch.
