What application(s) do I need to submit in order to be considered for financial aid?

Students applying to NYU Shanghai from outside of China must follow the instructions below if they wish to be considered for financial aid.

If you wish to be reviewed for need-based NYU Shanghai grants funding, you will need to file the College Board’s CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (and Noncustodial PROFILE, if applicable) online by our required deadlines. US citizens and official permanent residents also need to complete the FAFSA for aid consideration.

Financial Aid Filing Deadlines for the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE (Noncustodial PROFILE, if applicable):

  • Early Decision I applicants: November 15
  • Early Decision II applicants: January 15
  • Regular Decision applicants: February 15
  • Returning NYU Shanghai students: May 1


Freshman Applicants FAFSA Deadline

  • Early Decision I - FAFSA: February 15
  • Early Decision II - FAFSA: February 15
  • Regular Decision - FAFSA: February 15


Financial Aid Notification: April to receive a final financial aid award


Returning Students

  • FAFSA: May 1


Chinese Nationals: Chinese students can submit their financial aid applications to the NYU Shanghai Office of Admissions after their official enrollment to seek financial support. The Financial Aid and Scholarships Committee will evaluate all materials students submit and offer an appropriate financial support package to help students afford their studies at NYU Shanghai.

The Freshman Scholarship will be awarded to Chinese students with exceptional performance on the Gaokao.
