Self-Designed Honors Major (SDHM)

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, providing them with skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity. To be eligible for the Gilman Program, applicants must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or internship. The Institute of International Education has administered the program since its inception in 2001.

The Gates Cambridge mission is to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others. It aims to achieve this mission by selecting outstanding scholars, providing them with financial and non-financial support at one of the world’s leading universities and facilitating community building at and beyond Cambridge. Each year Gates Cambridge offers c.80 full-cost scholarships to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant Programs. A candidate will submit a Statement of Grant Purpose defining activities to take place during one academic year in a participating country outside the U.S. The program facilitates cultural exchange through direct interaction on an individual basis in the classroom, field, home, and in routine tasks.

Check your country's Fulbright Commission website for information on Fulbright funding for Masters' degree funding and other opportunities in the USA. Enrichment Seminars are organized in 16 different cities across the United States. Grantees also participate in specialized workshops with themes, such as From Lab to Market, focusing on research and entrepreneurship, U.S. Disability Rights and Global Health Innovations.

Forrest Scholarships are open to international and domestic students intending on enrolling in a PhD at a Western Australian university.

Eligibility: Forrest Research Foundation Scholarships are available for outstanding international and Australian students who wish to study towards a PhD at one of the following Western Australian universities:

The Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships program provides allocations of academic year and summer fellowships to institutions of higher education or consortia of institutions of higher education to assist meritorious undergraduate students and graduate students undergoing training in modern foreign languages and related area or international studies. Eligible students apply for fellowships directly to an institution that has received an allocation of fellowships from the U.S. Department of Education.

Erasmus Mundus is an EU initiative sponsoring a range of innovative Masters degrees through university partnerships in Europe and globally. Fancy a degree in Security Studies or Documentary Film, with semesters at leading institutions in the UK, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Czechia etc? Partnerships of higher education institutions from Europe and from a range of countries or regions across the world make this possible. There are scholarships available for students and academics to study/research/teach in one of the partner institutions.

English Program in Korea provides participants with opportunities to teach elementary, middle or high school level English at metropolitan and provincial areas in Korea.

Echoing Green is a social innovation program that provides unrestricted seed-stage funding and strategic foundational support to bring social change and develop leadership. Fellows are from all over the world with different backgrounds and are working to solve varying problems.
