DAAD Scholarships: Study in Germany

The DAAD is the largest source of funding for postgraduate and language study in Germany. International students can apply to various institutions for a scholarship. Critical Language Scholarships (US)

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an immersive summer opportunity for American college and university students to learn languages essential to America's engagement with the world.

Eligibility: U.S. citizens only.

Application: Apply online. The selection standard is based on:

- Connection between language and goals;

- Contribution to the CLS Program goals of citizen diplomacy and mutual understanding;

- Preparation for the CLS Program;

Commonwealth Scholarships

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) awards over 800 scholarships and fellowships for postgraduate study and professional development to Commonwealth citizens each year. Candidates are selected on the basis of merit and their potential to contribute to the needs of their home countries. There are diverse scholarships focusing on different educational level provided by Commonwealth Scholarships.

Eligibility: Citizens of Commonwealth countries. Specific eligibility depends on the scholarship and degree level chosen.

Chevening Scholarships and Fellowships

Chevening is the UK Government’s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders. Chevening offers two types of award – Chevening Scholarships and Chevening Fellowships – the recipients of which are personally selected by British embassies and high commissions throughout the world.

Bseisu Foundation Scholarships

The Amjad & Suha Bseisu Foundation was founded by Amjad and Suha Bseisu in 2005 with the desire to empower young people and support disadvantaged communities in the Levant and Malaysia. Having suffered as first and second-generation refugees, Amjad and Suha wanted to focus on increasing the availability of equal opportunities for all.The Bseisu Foundation offers different scholarships and funding opportunities for Master's programs across the UK, US, Middle East and Malaysia.

Boren Scholarships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Boren Scholars represent a vital pool of highly motivated individuals who wish to work in the federal national security arena.

Blakemore Foundation (US)

The Blakemore Foundation was founded in 1990 by Tom and Frances Blakemore for the purpose of providing fellowships for the advanced study of Asian languages and grants to facilitate the introduction of Asian art to communities in the United States. Together with The Freeman Foundation, it has awarded over $20 million in fellowships to support an academic year of intensive study of an Asian language at an advanced level through the Blakemore Freeman Fellowship.
