Why I chose NYU Shanghai
I chose NYU Shanghai because I enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone and exploring new cultures through travel. I’m also passionate about technology and saw Shanghai as a major hub for 21st-century technological advancement. The opportunity to experience this dynamic environment—while still benefiting from NYU’s global resources and study opportunities—made NYU Shanghai an easy and exciting choice for me.
Favorite spot/thing to do in Shanghai
One of my favorite things to do in Shanghai is explore the city’s hidden gems with friends—whether it’s trying out new street food stalls, visiting unique museums, or discovering interesting architecture tucked between modern skyscrapers. I especially enjoy rock climbing at local gyms, which is not only fun but a great way to connect with people. There’s always something new around every corner, from pop-up art exhibits to night markets—Shanghai is full of unexpected and exciting experiences.
Favorite quote or Advice to Applicants

“Growth begins the moment you say yes to the unfamiliar.” Don’t be afraid to take a leap—whether it’s applying to a new program, moving to a new city, or stepping into a culture different from your own. The best opportunities often start where your comfort zone ends.

Fun fact about me

I once planned and ran an Amazing Race-style, MrBeast-inspired competition across Shanghai for one of my courses. Four teams competed in city-wide challenges that tested their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving—all while exploring some of Shanghai’s most iconic spots. It was one of the most fun and chaotic projects I’ve ever led!
