了解世界的最佳方式,也许就是理解推动世界发展进步的经济学原理。很多公共政策问题在本质上都是经济性的。经济分析提供了一个连贯清晰、逻辑分明的框架来研究这些问题,让我们理解在解决社会与商业难题时所涉及的博弈与权衡。

学习经济学可提高学生的基础分析能力与量化技能。上海纽约大学经济学专业的课程设置,不仅让学生打下扎实的专业基础,还提供就职于公共或私营机构不同工作岗位的必要技能。该专业学生在毕业后,可从事商业、法律与经济学研究咨询等领域的职业,也可攻读工商管理硕士学位。有意继续攻读经济学硕士学位的学生,除应满足经济学专业的学业要求,还应修读数学方面的课程。

上海纽约大学经济学专业拥有强大的师资力量,具有杰出的教学研究实力。经济学专业的大多数课程,具备博雅教育小班化教学的特点,师生之间交流互动紧密。上海纽约大学的经济学课程基于三项基本教学原则,引导学生了解人类社会的基本动态变化:

·       引导学生了解当今世界的思想变革和社会热点问题,用经济学框架寻求问题解决方案;

·       引导学生从本地、区域和全球三个视角思考问题;

·       引导学生了解个人决策过程需要引入神经科学和心理学知识。

高效的经济学分析,越来越需要用计量经济学的方法开展定量数据分析,并对分析结果进行有效沟通传达。

修读经济学专业学生需要完成12门课程。鉴于各门课程衔接性很强,建议想要修读经济学专业的学生尽早安排学习计划。通常情况下,完成该专业的学位要求需六个学期的学习时间。学生应仔细阅读每门课程的修读条件,以免延误。

本专业设有六门必修课,旨在让学生掌握三大核心领域:微观经济学、宏观经济学和计量经济学。通过修读必修课,所有专业学生将打下坚实的专业基础,通过经济学思维,理解与分析个人及总体经济活动。学生还将学习如何对经济数据进行统计分析,以及如何进行与解读实证研究。在完成六门核心课程后,学生可从多门课程中自由选择,进一步发展理论基础,或在发展经济学、行为经济学或公共经济学等具体研究领域运用所学的专业知识。所有300级和400级的中高级课程均实行小班授课,学生将有机会与教授密切交流。

经济学专业相当一部分教授任职于世界知名研究机构。学生有机会参与教授所做的研究项目或担任研究项目助理。通过与活跃于学术领域的教授合作,学生不仅可以进一步掌握基本经济理论知识,还能提高运用理论的能力。想要在教授指导下独立进行研究项目的学生,在获得教授许可的情况下,可修读400级的经济学研究课题,最多可抵4个学分。
