吕忠林现任上海纽约大学神经科学教授、华东师范大学 - 纽约大学脑与认知科学联合研究中心(上海纽约大学) 联合主任;纽约大学全球特聘教授。吕忠林教授于2019年加入上海纽约大学。此前,他在俄亥俄州立大学任职,担任文理学院心理学杰出教授,心理学、视光学和转化数据分析教授,以及俄亥俄州立大学认知与脑科学中心主任、认知与行为脑成像中心主。
吕忠林教授是美国实验心理学会高级会士,以及美国心理科学协会高级会士。吕教授参与创立了Adaptive Sensory Technology公司,致力于开发基于人工智能的视功能精确测量工具,从根本上改革眼视光疾病的诊断与治疗。他于1989年获得中国科学技术大学理论物理学士学位,并于1992年在纽约大学获得物理学博士学位。吕教授于1992-1996年在加州大学尔湾分校担任认知科学助理研究员。 他于1996年加入南加州大学心理学系担任助理教授,2005年升任心理学和生物医学工程教授,2006年担任认知神经科学William M. Keck讲席教授。 2011年加入俄亥俄州立大学之前,他在南加州大学担任Dana and David Dornsife认知神经科学成像中心联合主任。
