David G. Atwill

      David G. Atwill现任上海纽约大学文理学部主任、历史学教授。作为学部主任， Atwill教授负责学部的学术事务、培养与课程协调，以及包括人文、社会科学及自然科学学科的学术发展。

      Atwill教授在惠特曼学院获得学士学位，在夏威夷大学马诺阿分校获得历史学硕士及博士学位。Atwill教授是中国史和现代中国民族史领域的著名学者，在学界声誉卓著。加入上海纽约大学前，他曾在宾夕法尼亚州立大学历史系担任了七年的研究生事务主任，领导并参与多个委员会事务，涵盖教师长聘考核及晋升、研究经费、教师发展、培养方案、认证评估等各项学术管理工作。

      Atwill教授曾获多项国际学术荣誉，其中包括伍德罗·威尔逊国际学者中心（Wilson Center for Scholars）、安德鲁·梅隆基金会（the Mellon Foundation）等知名机构授予的研究基金，并曾两次当选为富布赖特学者。Atwill教授已发表的学术著作包括The Panthay Rebellion: Islam, Ethnicity, the Dali Sultanate, 1856-73（2023年由维索图书出版），以及Islamic Shangri-La: Inter-Asian Relations and Lhasa’s Muslim Communities, 1600 to 1960,（2018年由加州大学出版社出版）。他正在撰写的著作以因在鸦片战争（1839-42）中所扮演的角色而闻名于世的中国朝廷官员林则徐为研究对象，将于2024年由牛津大学出版社出版。
