For a long time I had wanted to explore working at an Embassy or a Consulate, but I never imagined I would have the opportunity to work at such a vibrant Embassy, and even more so during the current US political pandemonium. I am not only learning about my country's role in the international arena, but also about US politics and Spain's growing bilateral relations with the United States. Everyday I need to work both in Spanish and English. Although constantly changing languages gets a little tiring, it is much more engaging than I imagined. I translate documents, look up information, organize data, prepare documents that get sent to Madrid, and follow some key issues very closely. For example, I am paying special attention to migration issues, focusing both on the Syrian refugee crisis and the growing Cuban migration through Central American into the US.
