As an admitted student, you are required to complete several tasks before your first day of class. Note: You will receive pertinent email communication from NYUSPS at NYU Shanghai High School Academy, so please check your email accounts regularly.
1. Activate your NYU NetID and make your online tuition payment
All students enrolled in NYUSPS at NYU Shanghai programs are provided with an NYU NetID (Network IDentification). Your NYU NetID is a combination of your initials and a unique set of numbers (e.g., aqe123). Your NYU NetID will be emailed to you by NYUSPS at NYU Shanghai staff once your enrollment has been initially processed.
Once activated, your NetID is your key to many NYU online resources such as NYU Shanghai eSuite Portal and NYU Home. You must activate your NYU NetID before accessing the NYU Shanghai eSuite Portal to pay your bill. Residential students also need to pay the housing fee in the meantime.
2.Review the student handbook and the contract
In order to participate in the NYUSPS at NYU Shanghai HSA, all students must review the Student Handbook (see the link below) and the essential contract documents, which will be sent by email. All students must submit the completed and signed contract documents to the High School Academy office.
3. Receive your campus ID card
Your campus ID card will allow you to enter and exit the building, to print from NYU Shanghai public printers within the NYUSPS at NYU Shanghai guidelines, to pay in the cafeteria and cafe, and to gain additional NYU Shanghai privileges that are available to enrolled NYUSPS at NYU Shanghai students. If you submit a proper ID card photo (white background) by the deadline and have paid your fees, you will receive your NYU Shanghai ID card on the mandatory orientation day.
4. Read course syllabus
You will receive a syllabus for each course you take during HSA, sent by email about ten days before your course begins. There is a lot of important information in the course syllabus, so be sure to read it thoroughly and ask questions about anything you don’t understand. The syllabus will contain information about how to contact your instructor; what the goals of the course are; what kinds of assignments you will need to finish and how they will be assessed; and important policies pertaining to your course, NYUSPS, and NYU Shanghai. You will also be given a schedule or calendar for each course with information about what you will learn, how to prepare, and what assignments are due each class day. This schedule might be included in the syllabus or given to you as a separate document.
5. Attend orientation
As an enrolled student of High School Academy, it is mandatory for you to attend orientation. The orientation takes place on the Sunday afternoon before your class begins. Attending the orientation will give you a better understanding of our course and our policy. It is also a good opportunity to visit the NYU Shanghai campus and meet your new classmates.
Program withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to shanghai.NYUSPS.HSA@nyu.edu. If you withdraw from a course at least 14 calendar days before the first day of class, you are entitled to a 100 percent tuition refund and housing refund (if applicable). If you withdraw by the end of the first day of class, you are entitled to a 75 percent tuition refund but no housing refund. After the first day of class for your scheduled course, there will be no refund.
