The NYUCard is a must for all NYU Faculty, Staff and Students. The NYUCard should be carried at all times while on campus. The card, which identifies you as Faculty, Staff or Student, entitles you to various privileges and potential uses on campus. Your NYUCard entitles you to access Academic Building, Residence Hall, as well as campus transportation. Your NYUCard also allows you to access your NYU Printing service and acts as a stored value card to purchase food in the canteen located on B1 and the cafe located on 2F in Academic Building.
Do Not Lend This Card to Anyone at Any time for Any Reason.
You can be subject to disciplinary proceedings if you are involved in fraudulent use of a NYUCard.
If you are a current, registered student and the date on your NYUCard has expired or is about to expire, you must have the Registrar's Office update your information in order to have a new card issued to you.
For employees and affiliates, you must have Human Resources update your information, in order to be issued a replacement NYUCard. Electronic access privileges are assigned on a semester basis and are based on several factors; therefore, your card may not work even if the card date is valid.
Common reasons for your electronic access privileges to be deactivated are unenrolling from classes, not being enrolled in the current semester, or by no longer being a matriculated NYU student. Please check with the Command Center for a status update.
The NYUCard Center located in Command Center of Public Safeting in room 118 of the Academic Building is open 24/7. The NYUCard Center staff can assist you by producing new ID cards, generating replacement ID cards, and addressing any access-related issues that you might experience.
● To request a new NYUCard, please bring with you government issued identification with a current photo (e.g. a passport), and your N number or NetID.
● Community members who need to replace a lost NYUCard will have the CNY100 replacement fee billed by cash.
It is important to not punch a hole in your NYUCard, since the NYUCard is a proximity card that includes a microchip and an antenna, punching a hole in your card will damage the microchip or antenna, rendering it unreadable.
NYUCard is lost or stolen:
A. Go to Room B10 in the basement to alert the cafeteria staff that your card is missing. They will hold the money on your account.
B. Go to the NYU Shanghai Command Center in room 118 of the Academic Building. On the provided iPad please input:
Your card type (e.g. student, faculty, staff, etc.)
Contact phone number
Whether the card was lost or stolen
C. You will receive a confirmation email from Public Safety once you submit the application form. Please make sure the information you provide is accurate and correct.
D. There is a 100 RMB fee to replace your NYUCard. Please bring the fee in cash to the Bursar’s office in Room 1062, where you will be given an official receipt.
If your card is stolen and you obtain a police report (or incident information slip) from the police department, the fee can be waived.
E. Bring the official receipt to the Command Center in room 118 and give it to the specialist there. You will be issued a new card within 2 business days.
F. Once you have the replacement card, please bring it to IT Services in room 427 to have the printing capabilities refreshed.
NYUCard is damaged or expired:
A. Follow the same steps as if card was lost or stolen.
B. You must present the damaged or expired card when ordering a replacement in order to exchange for a new one.
There is no fee to replace a damaged or expired card.
Access Control with Existing Card when Coming from other Campuses
You do NOT need a new card, your current ID will work.

For Employees And Affiliates:
Employees or affiliates at a study away site should consult with their Global Academic Center coordinator to obtain a replacement card. Please talk to command center about setting up your ID to operate here in Shanghai. This will allow you to get into and out of the campus building and dorms, as well as use the shuttle services provided and store value for purchasing meals in the canteen.
