The purpose of this guideline is to safeguard members of the NYU Shanghai university community and its physical assets in the academic building and to facilitate access to the building by authorized users (faculty, staff, students, and other affiliates).
Scope of Application/适用范围
This guideline applies to anyone who enters and exits NYU Shanghai academic building.
I. Entrance/exit of the academic building/教学楼出入口设置
North and south entrances will be the only points to enter and exit the building during normal operations. A front desk/screening area, staffed by the Department of Public Safety, is positioned to provide an unimpeded view of the front entrance and all building entrants must pass by this area. The Department of Public Safety will have the responsibility for screening and granting access to all building entrants. All other doors will only be used for emergency exits and are alarmed at all times.
II. Access control of faculty, students, and staff/师生员工出入管理
a. All students, faculty, and staff of NYU Shanghai and NYU are required to swipe their valid NYU Shanghai ID card or NYU ID card at the turnstiles to enter the academic building.
b. Anyone that doesn’t have the NYU/NYU Shanghai ID card with him or her shall have their identity verified by a member of the staff and they will sign into the log book at the front desk before being permitted access to the building; otherwise, the front desk staff are authorized to reject this entry.
c. Individuals in the building after hours (7:00 p.m.—7:00 a.m.) may be asked to show their university identification.
III. Access control of contractors and visitors/承包商和访客出入管理
a. When contractors and visitors require entry into the academic building from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., they must be signed in by the public safety officer to the daily visitor log at the front reception desk by presenting a valid photo identification card at the time of entry and receive a Visitor Card, which must be returned to the front desk when leaving.
b. When contractors and visitors require entry into the academic building from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the building occupant expecting the visitor or contractor must report the visit to the Department of Public Safety and provide the guest’s information before their arrival. The front desk staff shall verify that the guest or contractor is welcome and expected and permit them access to the building by issuing the Visitor Card to them.
IV. Access control of VIPs/重要人士出入管理
a. When VIPs want to visit the NYU Shanghai academic building, the relevant department expecting the VIP shall notify the Department of Public Safety of the information of the VIP by filing the “false,” including name, identification card/passport number, and the license number of vehicle (if applicable). Public Safety will make a Visitor Card for VIPs and provide the card to the appropriate department in advance.
b. In certain cases when VIPs whose information are not provided prior to the visit, a member of the staff from the department expecting the VIP shall go to the reception desk to verify their identify and escort the VIP to enter and exit the academic building.
