Luis Wang

Luis Wang, CAA

Luis is raised and educated in Shanghai. He holds a B.A. in English from Shanghai International Studies University and a M.P.Ed from Shanghai Normal University. He had been involved in athletic administration at Concordia International School Shanghai for over 10 years before he joined NYU Shanghai in January of 2018. He is also a CAA (Certified Athletic Administrator) issued by NIAAA (National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association).

Luis started officiating basketball game since 2004 and is now a certified basketball referee with an officiating experience of more than 1,500 games. He also helps with the officiating program for the local organizations. He took the role of the League/Referee Coordinator of SISAC (Shanghai International Schools Activities Conference) and has been coordinating tournaments and assigning officials for all SISAC games since 2007.

Luis enjoys reffing basketball games, listening to Mariah Carey’s albums and shooting 8-ball or 9-ball pool when he’s out of office.


Nicole Wu

Nicole Wu studied in Beijing Sport University for 4 years, majoring in Sports Industry Management. Then she went to Indiana University Bloomington, and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Recreational Sports Administration. Before working at NYU Shanghai, Nicole worked at YMCA-Bloomington, during when was assist-managing their Youth Sports program.

After joining in NYUSH in June 2017, Nicole has been working on organizing and managing all sports teams, as well as coordinating other sports/fitness related activities. Nicole not only works in sports, but also has many interests in sports; among all different kinds of sports, basketball and Thai Boxing are her Top 2 choices; however she further seizes the chances to learn and try more in order to enrich her knowledge and skills.

Lucky is the Receptionist of Student Fitness Center at NYU Shanghai. He started work-life as a business translator in Changzhou. After that, his interest in food led him to become a food tour guide for foreign tourists in Beijing. Lucky knows the city’s food, culture, and history well. He is passionate and enthusiastic about sharing his experience! He holds BEc in International Trade from Jiangsu University.


Melanie Gordon

Melanie Gordon, LAT, ATC, Ed

Athletic Trainer

Melanie graduated from SUNY Cortland with a BS in Athletic Training in 2012 and Queens College with a teaching degree in Physical Education in 2016.

In 2013 she worked for the University of Buffalo Sports Medicine where she assisted the Athletic Trainers with their Division 1 Men’s Basketball and Football programs. She was the Head Athletic Trainer for four Buffalo Public High Schools. Upon her return home to New York City, she became a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Division 2 varsity programs at Queens College until 2016. Prior to coming to Shanghai, Melanie was the Head Athletic Trainer at Hewlett High School and oversaw 250 student-athletes. During her time, she developed the offseason strength and conditioning program for all varsity and junior varsity programs and was a substitute physical education teacher. Melanie has worked for the New York Cosmos, a semi-professional men’s soccer league along with their youth programs.

Melanie played basketball in college and still enjoys playing in adult leagues. When not working, Melanie trains on her free time and has competed in several powerlifting competitions. Melanie dreams to work in the NFL or USA Wrestling one day!


Amy Fu

Amy Fu is a Class of 2019 graduate from East China Normal University, majoring in Sports Training. She has been a basketball player in her varsity’s team from Primary School to University. And she is a National Level of Basketball Athlete.

She not only likes sports training, but also develops her ability of sports working widely. She has done voluntary work for Shanghai International Marathon and worked as a table official for different sports events.
