2017 STUDY AWAY RE-ENTRY PROGRAMS
September 4 -7, 2017
These programs are designed for the seniors and will showcase the diversity of experiences that the Class of 2018 has had while studying abroad. Students will share their experiences, learn from their classmates, and find out how to harness their unique global education as they enter the post-graduate world.

Welcome back to Shanghai! We are so excited to have you back in Shanghai and can’t wait to hear about your study away experiences. Academic Affairs and Student Life would like to welcome you back to campus with some programs specifically for seniors. Please RSVP HERE. RSVP is not required but guarantees your meal and entry into a raffle for each event. We invite you to join us at these three key programs listed below and you are also invited to enter the Photo Contest and apply to be a Global Ambassador.

You are invited to join the Welcome Back Kick-Off Celebration to catch up with fellow classmates after your junior year study away. The winning photos from last year’s photo contest will be on display and you will get information about returning to campus and programming for the rest of the week. You will also have a chance to ‘speed-mingle’ to hear about others’ experiences away. Prizes will be given out!

The main purpose of this session is to help you reflect on your global story, and get you to think about how you will apply your study away experience to your post-graduation plans. We will discuss how you can highlight your global experience to employers and graduate schools and will explain how the Career Development Center can support you in your senior year as you start preparing for your future beyond NYU Shanghai.

Anna Kathryn Kendrick, PhD
Anna Kathryn Kendrick is Director of Global Awards and Visiting Assistant Professor of Literature at NYU Shanghai. Before coming to China, she worked or studied in countries from Chile to India, the UK to Germany to Spain. She pursued an undergraduate degree in History and Literature at Harvard University, before moving to England on a teaching fellowship. She then stayed on to do a Masters in European Literature and a PhD in Spanish Literature and Culture at Cambridge University. Today, as Director of Global Awards, Dr. Kendrick works with students applying to major competitive fellowship opportunities, from Rhodes to Gates to Schwarzman and many others. She is always happy to discuss your academic and experiential fellowship plans and applications.
Passionate about your study away experience? Students from the Class of 2018 are invited to submit their photos from their study away experiences and share with the NYU Shanghai community. Students will submit a description (100 words or less) along with their photograph.
Categories. Photos can be submitted for the following categories:
1. Learning Everywhere (Photos of learning and academic experiences in a global context. For example, showcasing a lecture at a historic site or participating in fieldwork.)
2. Cultural. Photo Examples include: Food, Local Custom, Fashion, Something you could only find in [insert site name]
3. A Photo worth a thousand words. A photo that depicts a breathtaking view or snapshot of your study away location landscape.
We are now accepting Global Ambassador applications for the 2017-2018 academic year. Please refer to the NYU Shanghai Global Ambassador Expectations document to learn more about the qualifications and responsibilities.
