Deena Varner is an interdisciplinary Americanist specializing in cultural politics, critical race studies, and cultural studies of the law. She explores the raced, classed, and gendered production of contemporary legal and political institutions, and her research has appeared recently in journals such as Cultural Politics, the Journal of Historical Geography, and Women’s Studies. Her current book project traces the shifting geography of crime policy under neoliberalism.
